Fast Times at KHS Bicycles

The 2010 edition of Ride to Work Day at KHS Bicycles was a huge success. 91% of our employees rode to work including the owners riding a 20″ folding tandem. Vice-President Wayne D. Gray commuted the furthest, 70 miles each way by using a combination of bicycle and mass-transit. Purchasing Manager Jeff Tice won the title of longest pure bike commute by riding 43 miles each way from southern Orange County.

KHS Bicycles is located in an industrial area of South Los Angeles, so riding to our location may not be a vision of winding roads and fields of sunflowers. Many of our employees rode the Blue Line Metro from there neighborhoods, then rode the last half dozen miles. Energized riders were treated to bagels and cream cheese when arriving at KHS.

KHS Bicycles presents The 2010 KHS Bicycle Gravity Open DH Race at Plattekill Bike Park, May 20-23, 2010. It will be the second stop of the Pro/Am Gravity Tour in 2010. The Pro Gravity Tour is the USA Cycling National Series for Downhill racing. The KHS Bicycle Gravity Open will feature a UCI Downhill Points Race and will also be used a the Junior World Team Qualifier for the World Champs. The pro leader of the Pro Grt Series will also be automatically qualified to the USAC World Team. This race will also be the Innagural Eastern States Cup Race. Pros will compete for a $1575 Cash Purse. Amateurs will compete for 4 complete KHS Bicycles. The four Complete bikes will go to the fastest Cat 1,2,3 Men and the fastest Amateur Woman. These are all top of the line KHS Bicycles with a total value of over $15,000.

San Diego VeloYouth is a youth cycling partnership of Quality of Life Connections, San Diego Velodrome Association, Big Ring Racing, and National City Middle School. The program is the result of partnership among teachers, professionals, and volunteers. KHS Bicycles donates their Flite 100 model track bicycles for the program.

San Diego VeloYouth focuses on promoting healthy competition, social connections, personal improvement and education. At the completion of the program, participants will have set and achieved a goal, increased their confidence level by gaining a new competency, made new friends, learned teamwork and gained awareness of a healthy and fun sport.

Kids also have the opportunity to earn their bike and equipment to take home at the end of the program, so that their cycling activities can continue on their own or with a group throughout the year.
